My time is almost up, at EA at least. My contract is going to be over in two weeks and I'm going to get started on a new portfolio. Just trying to refresh my portfolio every couple of years, to keep myself focus and updated. If everything goes well, I should be posting a whole lot more in the coming months. Feel free to critique my work. The harsher the better, just keep it constructive.

Been a long time since my last post. A friend ask me why I haven't posted in a while, so I told him I'll try to get something up.

Here's something a little different. Didn't have any good drawing at hand, so I try to over processed a bad drawing in photoshop to try to make it interesting. Not sure if I'm successful.

You ever see a drawing that's so good, that it makes you sick to your stomach, because you just realized how of much you real suck as an artist. Then again, it's those type of drawings that makes you work twice as hard, so you'll only look half as bad, the next time around. Well, I was web surfing today, and found the sketchtravel and totora project drawings of Jerome Opena. After seeing it, I realized I have a very long way to go.

Didn't real want to post these drawing after seeing Jerome's, but here they are anyway. Two of the drawings were inspire by a toy and one that is not.

I'm back, I admit it's been a while since my last post. To those few who were actually worried about my safety, since I was in china during the earthquake. I'm fine, as I was no where near where the quake was. Here's two pieces I worked on yesterday, mainly trying to experiment with different rendering technique in Photoshop.

Here's a drawing I done with my cintiq and another quick animation with flickbook. I also found another animation software for the DS called animanatee. The overall program is much better then Flickbook, but unfortunately it has two major problem that makes it almost impossible to animate with, it only onions for one frame and it's buggy.

Over the past couple weeks, I been screwing around with a bunch of stuff. One of the thing I pick up was a DS ROM pack to play with the DS painting program Colors. While I found Colors to be very cool, it was another program that I found real fun. It's call flick book, and it's nothing more then super simple pencil tester. It has a light box like function that allow you to see the previous or proceeding 3 frames in shades of grey. The image on top is the first animation I have done in over seven years. It's real crude, as the whole thing was done in about an hour or two. It's my usual straight ahead animation process, with no story or any idea what I'm doing. The seven year rust real shows as the timing is pretty awful, but I admit, it was a lot of fun to do hand drawn animation again. It's an animated gif, so you have to click on the image to see the animation.

I also lost a little bit of will power and purchase one of those new 12" cintiq. Having used the old 15" model before, I must admit, the new ones are light years better then the old ones. I haven't done any coloring on it yet, but drawing on it is much, much, easiler then using a tablet. I notice there aren't a lot of review on the new cintiq online, so if anyone has a question on it, please feel free to ask. I haven't have a chance to used it on my own stuff, since I been pretty busy with work lately. but I'll post something, once I get a drawing that don't suck as much.

My wrist is starting to act up again, so the post will probably start slowing down again. I'll try to find some old stuff to post. But I admit it's going to be tough, since almost every project I worked on in the last two years, got either cancelled or haven't yet been released.

Here's a piece I started a while back, but gave up on. I try reworking it and savage what ever I could, but it's still not quite right. I'll probably try to work on it some more, and hopefully get it a little more unify, as it just not there yet.

I was watching TV and surfing the channels, when I stop at some weird show. They kept doing this quick flash of an image, that I thought look like a crazy old ghost. I couldn't tell what the image was, because they flashed it so fast, but it was definitely one of creepiest thing I have seen. At the end of the show, they finally show the image and it was just a black and white image of a clown, which explain alot. Here's a painting of what I thought I saw.

Haven't had a chance to post in a while, since I been really busy. I also caught caught a nasty cold that took me out of commission for two week. Everything is fine now except for the slight remnent s of the cough from hell that also got from the cold. Here's two reject concept from a while back.

Ok its been a while since my last post. I started at a new job about two month ago, and everything have been just crazy. Last friday was the big milestone date, so I finally got some time to relax.

I was browsing through the apple website on movie trailers, and I spotted the eragon trailer. I had been told by friends that the dragon head was definitely going to be quite unique. From the description I was given, I came up with this drawing of the dragon, though I think the movie one has a bit more dog to it.

Recently bought a whole bunch of canvas from Aaron Brothers, because of thier canvas sale. Unfornately I realized I haven't done a traditional painting in over a year. In fact, I haven't done much of anything in color in the past few month. The few color stuff that I have attempted, all look like crap. Then, I remember I wrote down a few pages of notes on color in my sketchbook for myself before I forgot, which I have. I found the sketchbook, and hopefully I can get some decent color stuff soon. In the same sketchbook I found an incomplete drawing of this monster. I started doodling on the drawing and heres the result.

Trying to use the computer less, and more with traditional medium. Here's an attempt to create a background using graphite. Kept it simple as I try to learn how to controll it again. Also threw in another doodle drawing that I started on the plane ride back.

Just came back from the comic con today. Definitely the most crowded I have ever seen it . Pick up a really cool book called " Out of Pictures " by a bunch of artist at Bluesky studio. Any way, I was commented that my blog doesn't truely represent my blog name, so I have renamed it. To commerate this new name, here's a drawing that came out of a doodle I did on my plane trip back. Just some animal head drawimgs today.

My company recently bought the whole gnomon workshop DVD set. So to keep the blog more interesting I'm going to start reviewing some of these DVD, the way I normally review thing. Well the first review is going to be DUSSO.

First, like most gnomon DVDs, you'll be amazed by his demo and ability,and yet you'll learn absolutely nothing. He won't get into long stretches of silence like the Carlos Huante DVD, but he'll goes off tanget all the time. Unlike Iain Mccaig, you can tell he never thaught before. Sometime he'll do something on screen, and you'll have no clue he did, because instead of telling you what he just did, he'll be talking about the view from his apartment. Unless you know photoshop well it's not recommended.

Been getting lazy on my art lately. Haven't really done too much painting these past couple of month, since I been mainly doing alot of Illustrator and logo stuff at work. I'm hoping this blog get my mind back into aflow of things again. I'm going to try to post at least one painting or drawing a day for as long as I could.
